Andrea L. Kmak
Andrea L. Kmak is a licensed attorney in Illinois who focuses her practice in family law. She counsels clients in all stages of the legal process in divorce, parentage, allocation of parental responsibilities and decision making (custody), support, asset division, domestic violence and contempt and enforcement proceedings.
Andrea received her law degree from The John Marshall Law School in 2016, where she graduated in the top 25% of her class. In law school, Andrea was a member of The John Marshall Law Review, served as a Criminal Law Teaching Assistant, and received multiple Dean’s List honors.
She also graduated cum laude from Elmhurst College in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in both Business Administration and Political Science, and minors in Spanish and Urban Studies. Andrea was a member of the Elmhurst College Women’s Soccer Team and the Student Government Association. She was also admitted to Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honors Society; Pi Gamma Mu, the International Honor Society of Social Sciences; and Delta Mu Delta, the International Honors Society in Business.
As a law student, Andrea gained practical experience through several clerkships throughout the Chicagoland area. Most recently, Andrea clerked at Beermann Pritikin Mirabelli Swerdlove, LLP in Chicago, Illinois, where she worked on complex family law cases both pre and post-judgment, as well as at the appellate stage. She also worked as an extern for the Honorable Thomas J. Kelley in the Cook County Domestic Relations Division, and participated in the DuPage County Judicial Internship where she was able to work with several judges in each division. Andrea gained criminal law experience as well by clerking for the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, where she worked primarily on juvenile and felony cases.
Throughout college, Andrea worked for a boutique family law firm in DuPage County for four years, where she discovered her passion for family law.
Andrea understands the emotional stress involved in family disputes and approaches each case with a balance of compassion and zealous advocacy. Andrea welcomes the opportunity to provide assistance for her clients during difficult times, and strives to attain the most beneficial solution for each family.
