Krista Marcheschi received her law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1993. She is also a 1990 graduate of the University of Illinois where she received a B.A. in Communications.

After graduation from law school, Krista worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office where she handled hundreds of Paternity, Child Support and Domestic Violence cases. Krista requested a prolonged stay in the Domestic Violence Division to serve victims of abuse. She was a passionate advocate inside the courtroom, but also spent many hours in the hallways answering questions and offering encouragement and support. Krista’s goal was to ensure that victims felt safe, informed, and served, rather than “processed”, through the system.

Krista left the State’s Attorney’s Office in 2001 to be a stay-at-home-mom and thoroughly enjoyed raising her two children. She kept busy working as an Outside Hearings Representative, representing employers in telephonic unemployment hearings with Administrative Law Judges from the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

In 2016 Krista returned to her love of serving families at the DuPage County Family Center as a Supervised Parenting Time Coordinator. Krista strived to create a professional, yet compassionate, environment in which to handle the interaction of parents and children in high-conflict cases involving addiction or abuse. At the end of 2018, Krista transitioned to Kollias & Giese, P.C. as a part-time family law attorney and mediator.
